Department of Dermatology, DMC&H Hosts Dermatopathology Workshop-cum-CME

The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists (IADVL) Executive Committee and the Special Interest Group (SIG) – Dermatopathology (IADVL Academy), under the auspices of the Punjab Medical Council, successfully organised a Workshop-cum-CME on Dermatopathology themed “Patterns in Everyday Practice” on 14th December, at DMC college campus.

Ludhiana, December 22, 2025: The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists (IADVL) Executive Committee and the Special Interest Group (SIG) – Dermatopathology (IADVL Academy), under the auspices of the Punjab Medical Council, successfully organised a Workshop-cum-CME on Dermatopathology themed “Patterns in Everyday Practice” on 14th December, at DMC college campus.
The CME witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 delegates from various institutions. The programme aimed to enhance pattern recognition skills and strengthen clinicopathological correlation in everyday dermatopathology practice.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Shri Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society; Shri Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics; Dr. Aashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent; Dr. Sukhjot Kaur, Professor and Head, Department of Dermatology; and Dr. Geeti Khullar, Convener, SIG Dermatopathology.
While addressing the gathering, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, emphasised the importance of CME and interdisciplinary collaboration in improving patient care. He appreciated the Department of Dermatology for organising an academically enriching programme.
Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, in his message, highlighted the role of academic excellence and hands-on learning in shaping competent clinicians. He lauded the efforts of the organising team and expressed pride in DMC&H for hosting nationally renowned faculty, thereby fostering a culture of research, learning, and innovation.
This academic initiative was coordinated by Dr. Sukhjot Kaur (Professor & Head, Department of Dermatology, DMC&H), Dr. Jaspriya Sandhu (Associate Professor), and Dr. Navneet Kaur (Assistant Professor). The CME was organised in collaboration with SIG Dermatopathology, an academic initiative by IADVL to promote structured education among residents. Dr. Jaspriya Sandhu, a member of SIG Dermatopathology, played a key role in initiating and overseeing the planning and execution of the CME.
The scientific programme was highlighted by enriching lectures from eminent speakers including Dr. M. Ramam, Professor, AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Dipankar De, PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Dr. Geeti Khullar, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi. The event was further honoured by the presence of Dr. Sanjeev Handa, Professor & Head, Department of Dermatology, PGIMER, Chandigarh,  Dr. G. P. Thami, Director Principal & Head of Department, GMCH-32, Chandigarh and heads of Dermatology from medical institutes of Punjab.
The CME also featured insightful sessions by eminent pathologists and Dr. Nita Khurana, Director Professor & Head, Department of Pathology, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. Dr. Uma Handa, Professor & Head, Department of Pathology, GMCH-32, Chandigarh, and Dr. Uma Nahar, Professor, Department of HIstopathology, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The talks covered a wide spectrum of conditions ranging from common dermatoses to rare skin disorders, emphasizing the pivotal role of histopathology in accurate diagnosis and improved patient care.
A major highlight of the event was the slide viewing session with live demonstration, which provided participants a structured approach to interpreting histopathology slides, making the workshop highly interactive and practically valuable for residents and clinicians alike.
