Department of Life Long Learning Panjab University celebrated National Girl Child Day


PU celebrating National Girl Child Day.

Chandigarh, January 25, 2017: Department of Life Long Learning Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh celebrated National Girl Child Day on 25.01.2015 that falls on 24.01.2017 on the theme of Sensitization drive among girls students regarding saves sanitization in PU adopted village at Khuda Lahora in Govt.Sen.Sec.School. Sixty girls from 8th and 9th class attended the program.
Mrs. Renu Gandhi, Chairperson of the Department said that the poor sanitation is an issue that can effects everyone, but women across all state of society are often the most at risk. The provision of hygienic and sanitization are often considered least
importance in the Indian families especially in rural areas. Even though they considered women are promoter and educator and leaders of home and community based sanitation practices. However women are really addressed and consider as a societal
barriers and they have not been involved in decision-making processes with regard to toilets, sanitation programs and little attention have been given to the problems of woman for not having toilets at home. Madam Kiran Bala Pricinpal of the school said that there is a need for ensuring functional separate toilets facilities in sufficient numbers for girl students and have separate waste bins for wet and dry waste. There is a need to hold sanitizations meeting with parents on imparting massages of cleanness and sensitization among their children.
There is a need to inspect the sanitary facilities in every institution for their upkeeps. Ms. Parul Counselor of the school spoke on personal hygienic of the students and Up-keeps of the toilets in the school.
