Department of Hindi, PU, celebrates Jaishankar Prasad Jayanti
Chandigarh, January 30, 2019: Department of Hindi, Panjab University, today organized a special literary program to pay tribute to eminent author Jaishankar Prasad. The event commemorated the birth anniversary of the author who is known for his contribution to Hindi Literature in genres of poetry, drama, novels and short stories. Dr.Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Department of Hindi informed that, “In continuation with our effort to involve city colleges in literary events, we had students from G.C.G -11 who participated in the event today.” He further informed that involvement of students and research scholars in literary events helps them learn more about eminent authors and enriches their knowledge about life and works of prominent persons in Hindi Literature. The program began with a short film on the life and works of Jaishankar Prasad, which was followed by student presentations that explored the various dimensions of his works. Ankita Saini and Kanchan from G.C.G Sector 11, Usha (research scholar), Rahul and Ruchi (MA students) from Department of Hindi were the key speakers in today’s event. The function also had certificate distribution for participants. Bank of Baroda officials vipin kumar garg, swati, jorawar singh and jaspreet singh honoured the meritorious students divya and archna of the Department. The event was conducted by Pinki ( research scholar) of the Department. Before the commencement of the function, students and faculty at the Department of Hindi, observed two minutes of silence in memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in struggle for India’s freedom.
