Demonstration on Track Cases and Crime Scene Management on Murder and Rape Cases

Chandigarh, October 31, 2025: The Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a demonstration on track cases, murder and rape cases, ballistics, explosion, and crime scene management. 

The resource person, Dr L. S. Rana, delivered an engaging and practical session focusing on the investigation of crime, methods of tracking murder and rape cases, and systematic procedures for managing and preserving crime scenes. He elaborated on the principles of ballistics, explosion analysis, and forensic examination involved in crime investigation, highlighting their significance in modern evidence-based policing and criminal justice administration.

A practical demonstration was conducted to familiarise participants with the procedures involved in crime scene management, evidence collection, documentation techniques, and ballistic examination. The interactive nature of the session provided participants with valuable hands-on exposure to investigative methods and the scientific application of forensic techniques in policing. The session witnessed active participation from faculty members — Dr Sanjeev Ranjan, Dr Shaveta Begra, and Dr Satnam Singh — along with 45 students of the Centre.

Earlier, the session commenced with a welcome address and thematic introduction by Dr Kuldeep Singh, Chairman, Centre for Police Administration, who emphasised the importance of scientific methods and field-based understanding in effective police investigation and crime scene analysis.
