Demolition of 11 unauthorized colonies in villages of Jaspal Bangar, Dhraur, Tibba, Majara, Sahnewal and Kohara

Ludhiana, September 8, 2026: In continuation to the ongoing drive, Following the direction of Hardeep Singh Mundian, Minister for Housing and Urban Development, the GLADA Chief Administrator, Vikas Hira, has shown zero tolerance toward unauthorized and unplanned development, with a special focus on illegal colonies. He stated that a special drive has been launched to take punitive action against those fleecing innocent residents under the garb of offering cheaper plots in unauthorized colonies that lack statutory sanction and compliance with government norms.
In compliance with demolition orders issued by the Additional Chief Administrator, GLADA, Ludhiana, against unauthorized colonies, a team comprising a Duty Magistrate, police force, and the enforcement team of the GLADA Regulatory wing demolished Eleven unauthorized colonies on Tuesday in the villages of Jaspal Bangar, Dhraur, Tibba, Majara, Sahnewal, Kohara by dismantling their roads and ongoing illegal constructions and structures on these sites. When developers failed to stop illegal construction work despite being served notices, a special team carried out the demolition drive, which went unopposed. To check the mushrooming of illegal colonies at the initial stage, GLADA is planning more such drives in the upcoming weeks.
The Chief Administrator, GLADA, appealed to the general public not to purchase property, plots, or buildings in unauthorized colonies, as GLADA will not provide any facili/es such as water supply, sewerage, or electricity connections. The list of approved and regularized colonies, along with their sanctioned maps, is available on the official website of GLADA and should be checked by prospective buyers before purchasing any property.
In the recent drives, action against more than 20 colonies has already been taken. The Chief Administrator, GLADA-cum-Competent Authority, Ludhiana, stated that GLADA will continue to carry out the drives in upcoming days in entire region including Jagraon, Threekey, Dhandra road etc. and besides demolition drives, GLADA shall continue taking strict legal action under the Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act against all persons involved in unauthorized development in Ludhiana district.
