New Delhi, Aug 20 (IANS) Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President and Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Harsh Malhotra, on Thursday led a mass plantation programme organised at the the President's Bodyguard (PBG) Grounds in Central Ridge under the Delhi Mega Plantation Drive 2026 and the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.

New Delhi, Aug 20 (IANS) Delhi BJP President and Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra on Thursday led a mass plantation programme organised at the PBG Grounds, Central Ridge, under the Delhi Mega Plantation Drive 2026 and the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

Malhotra was joined by Dehi Minister for Environment, Forest and Wildlife Manjinder Singh Sirsa, said an official statement.

The programme was a part of the Mega Plantation Drive 2026 under which a target has been set for planting 70 lakh saplings across Delhi with a special focus on public participation, protection of planted trees, and ensuring their long-term survival.

Malhotra said that the mass plantation drive at the Central Ridge marks a pivotal step towards transforming environmental conservation into a widespread community movement across the capital.

Expressing pride in the party organisation’s active role, Malhotra highlighted that leaders, MPs, MLAs, Corporators and ground-level workers across every Mandal are working in unison to take the message of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ directly to every neighbourhood.

Malhotra emphasised that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the initiative goes far beyond achieving the ambitious target of 70 lakh saplings.

He said it is about taking full responsibility for protecting, geo-tagging and nurturing every single tree to secure Delhi’s sustainable future.

He also encouraged civil society organisations, RWAs and professional bodies to continue joining hands in this green movement.

Speaking on the occasion, Sirsa said that the Delhi Government has made public participation the foundation of its plantation campaign.

“Our resolve is not merely to plant trees, but to bring the people of Delhi together in this mission. We want every tree to be planted with a sense of responsibility and affection, just as we care for our mothers,” he said.
