Tell us about Yeh Fitoor Tera. What can audiences expect from the show?
Yeh Fitoor Tera is a beautiful coming-of-age love story that explores emotions, relationships, self-discovery, and the courage to step outside your comfort zone. While romance is at its heart, the show is equally about personal growth and finding your own voice. It's emotional, relatable, and I think audiences will connect with the honesty of the characters and their journey.
Tell us about your character, Soumya. How different is she from you in real life?
Soumya is completely opposite to who I am in real life. I'm quite outspoken, whereas she's shy, introverted, and extremely soft-spoken. That's exactly what drew me to the role. I had to consciously slow down, speak more gently, and adapt her subtle body language to truly get into her world. Even on set, our director randomly reminds me, "Deb, talk softly!" and we all burst into laughter. It's been a fun challenge because I get to step away from my own personality and bring this simple, innocent girl to life.
People often mistake shy individuals for being weak. How does Soumya challenge that perception?
I think Soumya proves that you don't have to be loud to be strong. She's stepping into college after spending her entire life in a girls' school, so she's naturally nervous. But she keeps showing up, learning, and moving forward. That's her real strength, and I think a lot of girls will relate to that.
What do you think young women will relate to the most in Soumya's journey?
The fear of starting something new. Whether it's your first day at college, moving to a new city, or stepping out of your comfort zone, we've all felt those butterflies. What I love is that Soumya doesn't change overnight. She grows one step at a time, just like we all do.
The title of the show is Fitoor. What's your own 'fitoor' in life?
My biggest fitoor is to keep growing as an actor. I love taking on roles that challenge me, surprise me, and help me discover something new about myself. I always want to keep raising the bar.
Has portraying Soumya changed the way you look at love or relationships?
It definitely reminded me that the best relationships aren't about changing each other. They're about trust, patience, and helping each other grow. That's what makes Jeet and Soumya's bond so beautiful.
How has your experience been working with Ishaan Dhawan for the first time?
It's been so much fun! Ishaan has such positive energy, and that makes every day on set enjoyable. We spent a lot of time understanding Jeet and Soumya's journey together, and I think that comfort has naturally translated into our on-screen chemistry. I hope audiences enjoy watching us as much as we enjoyed creating their story.
