DEALERS to follow E-Trip System
Author(s):

The Author.

From 17th of July 2013, dealers in cotton, sarson (mustard), plywood, iron & steel (excluding scrap), yarn and vegetable oil (edible and non-edible) shall be liable to follow E-Trip System.
In this system, before sending these goods to any place within the state of Punjab for sale or for transfer of stock, intimation of movement of goods shall be liable to be given on the website of Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab and Computerised Receipt will be printed. This receipt shall be carried alongwith the bill/challan and goods.

The limit of single consignment is kept Rs. 50,000.

Similarly, for sending goods out of state of Punjab a system of E-ICC shall have to be followed for  iron and steel, hosiery and readymade garments, pipes of all kinds like MS Pipe, GI Pipes, ERW Pipes, Plastic Pipes etc., rice, nut bolts and fasteners. The limit shall be Rs.50,000 in this case also.

It is interesting to note that only 6-7 commodities have been covered under this compulsory online information scheme and all the trades are not covered giving the logic that maximum evasion of tax is there in the trade of these goods.
