DC Visits Sarprasti, Punjab's First-of-Its-Kind Free Charitable Hospice and Palliative Care Centre

Ludhiana, July 24, 2026: Himanshu Jain today visited Sarrasti Charitable Palliative Care Centre today to witness the Centre's ongoing work in providing completely free hospice and palliative care services for patients with life limiting illness.
The Deputy Commissioner was warmly welcomed by the management and members of the Centre, including Dr. Rampal Jain (President), Jagjit Sood (Secretary), Dr. Kunal Jain (Oncologist, DMCH), Geetika Jain, Avnish Jain, Tarun Nayyar, and Anita Sharma, Sandeep Kaushik, Lalit Goel along with the Centre's dedicated staff and volunteers.
The visit followed the Deputy Commissioner's interaction with the Sarprasti team during the Punjab NGO Expo 2026, where the Centre had showcased its work through an exhibition stall. Impressed by Sarprasti's mission and its commitment to providing free-of-cost hospice and palliative care, the Deputy Commissioner promised to visit the Centre to witness its work firsthand. This visit fulfilled that promise and provided an opportunity to interact with the team, volunteers, patients, and caregivers.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner toured the Centre, interacted with the medical team, volunteers, patients, and caregivers, and was briefed on the Centre's mission and its efforts to improve the quality of life of patients with life-limiting illnesses.
Located on Baranhara Road, SarprastiCharitable Palliative Care Centre provides completely free-of-cost hospice and palliative care services to underprivileged patients, made possible through the generous support of donors and well-wishers.
The Centre is dedicated to improving the quality of life of patients living with life-limiting illnesses by helping them manage pain, physical discomfort, and emotional distress with dignity and compassion. In addition to providing palliative care, Sarprasti assists patients in accessing treatment at hospitals and extends support to their families through counselling and rehabilitation, enabling them to regain stability and continue leading meaningful lives.
Since its inception in 2022, the Centre has served more than 75 patients, and is committed towards compassionate, holistic, and patient-centred care.
The dignitaries appreciated the dedication of the Sarprasti team and acknowledged the Centre's contribution towards providing compassionate care to patients and support to their families. The visit also offered members of the media an opportunity to understand the importance of hospice and palliative care and their positive impact on society.
The management of Sarprasti Charitable Palliative Care Centre expressed its sincere gratitude to the Hon'ble Deputy Commissioner, the District Public Relations Officer, members of the press, and all distinguished guests for their valuable time, encouragement, and support.
