DC urges massive participation in Grand Nagar Kirtan on Nov 20 and 21 in Ludhiana

Liquor, Meat & Tobacco Shops along entire route to remain closed till Midnight Nov 21

Ludhiana, November 19, 2025: The Punjab Government’s grand Nagar Kirtan, organised to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, will reach Ludhiana on November 20 and pass through the city on November 20-21
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain has appealed to residents to participate in large numbers, seek the blessings of the Ninth Guru, and make the event historically memorable.
Route on November 20 (Entry & Night Halt)  
The Nagar Kirtan will enter Ludhiana district from Agwar Lopon Khurd village (Jagraon), proceed through Jagraon city - Mullanpur - Ayali Chowk - Wave Mall - Lodhi Club - Senior Citizen Home - Sarabha Nagar Police Station - Guru Nanak Public School - T-Point Malhar Road - Aarti Chowk - Bhaiwala Chowk - DC Office - Bharat Nagar Chowk - Durga Mata Mandir, and will halt for the night at Gurdwara Shri Dukh Niwaran Sahib.

Route on November 21 (Departure)  
The Nagar Kirtan will resume at 8:00 AM from Sri Gurdwara Shri Dukh Niwaran Sahib and proceed via JMD Mall - Clock Tower Chowk - Chand Cinema Bridge - Jalandhar Bypass Chowk - Karabara Chowk - Shivpuri Chowk - Basti Jodhewal Chowk - Samrala Chowk - Oswal Chowk - Sherpur Chowk - Giaspura Chowk - Dhandari Kalan - Jugiana Chowk - Sahnewal - Doraha - Khanna, before entering Fatehgarh Sahib District.

Strict Orders Issued
To maintain harmony, public order, and respect for religious sentiments during the sacred Nagar Kirtan, District Magistrate Himanshu Jain has ordered, under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914:

- Complete closure of all liquor, meat, cigarette/beedi/paan shops and rehri stalls located on the entire route of the Nagar Kirtan.  
- Strict prohibition on any act, slogan, or activity that may hurt religious feelings or disturb peace.

These restrictions will remain in force from 5:00 PM on November 19, 2025 to midnight (12:00 AM) on November 21, 2025*
