DC seeks public support for maintaining peace and communal harmony in Nawanshahr

Nawanshahr, December 22, 2021: Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Wednesday solicited wholehearted support of people for maintaining peace, brotherhood and communal harmony in the district.
Chairing a meeting of peace committee members here at District Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh said recent incidents that happened in the state, have been posing a huge challenge for the peaceful atmosphere in the district.
He said that all of us should make concerted efforts for upholding peace and communal harmony in the district at every cost.
Seeking wholehearted support from members of the peace committee for strengthening the social fabric in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that we are the citizen of Punjab and there must not be any kind of major differences among the people.
The Deputy Commissioner said that there is absolute normalcy but still active participation of people is the need of the hour in the district.
He said that any kind of communal tension/disturbance are not at all good for society and concrete efforts must be made for reducing any such tension amongst the society.
Mr Sarangal said that people must refrain from getting swayed away by the rumours or the false propaganda on social media and said that strict action would be taken against those spreading false rumours.
He hoped that the members of this committee from various strata of society would help the administration to promote communal harmony, peace and would play a constructive role to further firming the spirit of mutual trust and love in the society.
Deputy Commissioner said that the administration has been keeping a strict vigil to prevent any sort of untoward incident and the administration is well aware of its bounden duty to maintain peace and harmony in the district.
He also asked the heads of all religious places to ensure functioning of CCTV cameras around the clock  besides deputing security personnel in and outside the premises.
