DC Sachin Gupta urged Consumers to Avail Surcharge Waiver Scheme for Outstanding Electricity Bills

Rohtak, September 7, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta has urged electricity consumers to take benefit of the Surcharge Waiver Scheme–2025, valid till 11 November 2025. The scheme applies to both connected and disconnected consumers whose bills were outstanding up to 31 August 2024 & remain unpaid.

Under the scheme, surcharge on domestic connections will be frozen and consumers will pay only the principal amount, either in lump sum (with an additional 10% rebate) or in instalments. For agriculture consumers, surcharge will be frozen from the notification date, with the option to pay principal within three billing cycles. Lump-sum payment will also attract a 10% rebate.

For industrial and other categories, consumers must pay 50% of pending principal and surcharge in lump sum; the remaining 50% surcharge will be waived. Incorrect bills will be corrected as per rules. Consumers with court cases must withdraw them to avail benefits. Disconnected connections can be restored upon payment of lump sum or first instalment, provided the disconnection is not older than six months.
