DC Sachin Gupta launches “Swasthya Vahini” – A Mobile Medical Initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection
In a major step towards women’s health and preventive care, the District Administration, Rohtak has launched “Swasthya Vahini”, a special mobile medical initiative aimed at spreading awareness and enabling early detection of breast cancer among women across the district. The initiative was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta during the night halt program organized at Ismaila village.
Rohtak, November 7, 2025: In a major step towards women’s health and preventive care, the District Administration, Rohtak has launched “Swasthya Vahini”, a special mobile medical initiative aimed at spreading awareness and enabling early detection of breast cancer among women across the district. The initiative was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta during the night halt program organized at Ismaila village.
The program seeks to take healthcare to the doorstep of women, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, ensuring that every woman has access to screening, diagnosis, and timely treatment.
The Swasthya Vahini campaign will operate in three distinct phases under the theme “One Village-One Day”, ensuring focused attention and comprehensive coverage at the community level:
1. Phase I – Physical Detection and Awareness
• A team of trained female doctors, ANMs, and health workers will visit each village to conduct initial physical examinations for early signs of breast abnormalities.
• Women will also be educated about self-examination and the importance of early detection.
2. Phase II – Diagnostic Screening (Mammography)
• Women found to have any symptoms or physical indications during the first phase will be taken up for mammography and advanced diagnostic screening through the mobile medical unit or at designated centers.
• Each participant will receive a personal diagnostic report.
3. Phase III – Referral and Treatment
• All confirmed or probable positive cases will be seamlessly referred for further evaluation and treatment to:
• Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak
• All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jhajjar
• Government Medical Institutions of Haryana
• The District Administration will ensure follow-up and coordination for every referred case until treatment is initiated.
In the initial phase, the Swasthya Vahini program will prioritize - Female school teachers, Female health and government staff, All women aged 35 years and above in identified target areas.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Dr. Anita Narula Charitable Foundation and LPS Bossard, representing a strong public–private partnership for community health and preventive screening.
The Deputy Commissioner said that “Swasthya Vahini” is not merely a screening drive but a movement for women’s health empowerment. “Our aim is to make early detection accessible to every woman, especially in rural areas where awareness and facilities are limited. Timely diagnosis saves lives - Swasthya Vahini brings that possibility to every doorstep,” he added.
The launch event at Ismaila village saw an enthusiastic turnout of women, teachers, and health workers who participated in awareness interactions and demonstrations by the medical team.
