DC Sachin Gupta launches National Deworming Day in Rohtak; Albendazole Administer to Over 3.13 Lakh Children
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta formally launched the National Deworming Day campaign in Rohtak by administering Albendazole tablets to students at PM SHRI Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Model Town, marking the beginning of a district-wide public health initiative aimed at improving child nutrition and overall well-being.
Rohtak, April 21, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta formally launched the National Deworming Day campaign in Rohtak by administering Albendazole tablets to students at PM SHRI Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Model Town, marking the beginning of a district-wide public health initiative aimed at improving child nutrition and overall well-being.
The campaign has achieved significant outreach; Targeted children (1–19 years): 3,78,944, Children covered so far: 3,13,809, and remaining children will be covered during the mop-up round on May 5, 2026.
In addition, 21,526 women (20–24 years) have also been administered de-worming medication.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that De-worming plays a critical role in preventing malnutrition and improving absorption of nutrients, and Healthy children are essential for strong learning outcomes and overall development.
He urged all stakeholders to ensure 100% coverage of eligible beneficiaries. Students were sensitized on importance of hand hygiene and washing hands with soap before and after meals, after playing, and after using toilets.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that behavioral change is key to preventing reinfection.
The campaign was implemented across Schools, Anganwadi centres, Colleges, and Coaching institutes ensuring wide reach and accessibility. Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Chandra stated that worm infections can lead to Anaemia, Loss of appetite and Abdominal pain; and timely de-worming significantly improves health and nutrition levels.
Dr. Anjali Arora, Deputy Civil Surgeon, added that symptoms like weakness, vomiting, poor concentration, and fatigue may indicate underlying nutritional issues, which can be prevented through regular deworming.
The campaign reflects the district administration’s commitment to Preventive healthcare, Child nutrition, and Public awareness; ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing essential health interventions.
