DC Sachin Gupta instructs to discharge only Treated Water into Drain No. 8 and Other Channels

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta issued directions to the concerned officers in connection with preparation of the Yamuna Action Plan, instructing them to ensure that only treated water is discharged into Drain No. 8 and other connected channels in the district. He directed the officers to make necessary arrangements for treatment of wastewater at identified points and to strictly comply with the guidelines issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Rohtak, December 23, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta issued directions to the concerned officers in connection with preparation of the Yamuna Action Plan, instructing them to ensure that only treated water is discharged into Drain No. 8 and other connected channels in the district. He directed the officers to make necessary arrangements for treatment of wastewater at identified points and to strictly comply with the guidelines issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Chairing the meeting on the Yamuna Action Plan held in the Video Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that under no circumstances should untreated wastewater be discharged in the future. He made it clear that any negligence towards environmental protection and cleanliness of the Yamuna River will not be tolerated.

During the meeting, DC Sachin Gupta received the inspection and action taken report from the committee constituted to examine the relevant discharge points. He said that the committee will review all aspects related to the discharge of wastewater into Drain No. 8 and other connected channels and will take immediate steps to stop any agency found discharging untreated wastewater. The committee informed that inspections of the identified locations have been conducted and that the Haryana State Pollution Control Board has collected water samples, which have been sent to the laboratory for testing.

The Deputy Commissioner directed officers of the Development and Panchayats / Panchayati Raj Department to make necessary arrangements for treatment of wastewater flowing into Drain No. 8 from villages Sanghi, Kanheli, Maina, Balam and Kahanor. In cases where Panchayati land is not available, alternative options should be explored. He also instructed officials of the Haryana Urban Development Authority to ensure that only treated water is discharged into the Rohtak Link Drain.

DC Sachin Gupta directed officers of the Public Health Engineering Department to prepare a proposal for setting up a separate STP for Kanheli village. He also asked the department to assess the number of drinking water connections issued in the city and identify households that have not taken sewerage connections. He further informed that arrangements for treatment of water flowing from Kutana village into Drain No. 8 will be completed within the current month.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Irrigation Department to complete the remaining work of covering and concretising the drain passing near the Inspector General of Police office on the Delhi Bypass, for which a budget of ₹108 crore has been received. He also directed Municipal Corporation officials to inspect the concerned points and submit an action taken report.

Representatives from Pt. BDS University of Health Sciences informed that the STP installed by the institution is functional. Representatives from MDU said that the STP installed at the university will be made operational by the end of January and that the treated water will be utilized within the university campus itself.
