Rohtak, January 11, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, inaugurated the North Zone All India Inter-University Cricket (Women's) and North Zone All India Inter-University Tennis (Women's) championships at the MDU sports complex today.
Addressing the players at the inauguration ceremony, Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that sports not only develop physical fitness but also discipline, leadership qualities, and sportsmanship. He wished all the participating players the best of luck for their performance.
Presiding over the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh said that the university is committed to the all-round development of sports. Dr. Rajwanti Sharma, President of the MDU Sports Council, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Shakuntala Beniwal, Secretary of the Sports Council, presented a detailed overview of the competitions and shared the university's sporting achievements.
Present on the occasion were All India University Observer Dr. Nafis Ahmed, Proctor Prof. Randeep Rana, Dean Students Welfare Prof. Sapna Garg, Chief Warden (Boys) Prof. Sudhir Kumar, along with coaches, team managers, players from various universities, and sports enthusiasts. The North Zone All India Inter-University Cricket (Women's) competition will conclude on January 17, and the North Zone All India Inter-University Tennis (Women's) competition will conclude on January 15.
