DC sachin Gupta directs to complete All Flood Prevention Projects Before Monsoon; Critical Drainage Works by June 15
Rohtak, May 26, 2026: With monsoon preparedness being accorded top priority, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta has directed the Irrigation Department to ensure time-bound completion of all approved flood prevention works across the district, with critical underground drainage pipeline projects to be completed by June 15 and all remaining flood protection works by June 30, 2026.
Chairing the monthly review meeting of the Irrigation Department at the Camp Office, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the implementation status of ongoing flood management works and emphasised that advance preparedness is essential to minimise the risk of waterlogging, protect agricultural activity and ensure smooth drainage during the monsoon season.
He said the district administration is pursuing a proactive flood preparedness strategy to address both legacy drainage concerns and seasonal vulnerability points well before the onset of heavy rainfall.
Officials informed the meeting that the government has approved 33 flood prevention projects worth over ₹65 crore for Rohtak district, covering drainage strengthening, water discharge improvement and other flood mitigation interventions.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed both pending projects carried forward from the previous monsoon cycle as well as newly approved works for the current season, and directed that all projects be completed strictly within the prescribed timelines.
DC Sachin Gupta directed that all projects involving underground drainage pipelines and water evacuation infrastructure be completed by June 15, keeping in view the commencement of paddy transplantation activity. He noted that after mid-June, agricultural operations intensify and execution of such works may become difficult.
“Flood prevention works must be completed proactively, not reactively. Timely execution is critical to protecting both urban settlements and agricultural areas during the monsoon,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed that all remaining flood prevention works, apart from the underground pipeline interventions, must be completed by June 30, ensuring that full preparedness is in place before peak monsoon conditions.
He instructed officials to specifically address all locations that experienced water logging during the previous monsoon season and ensure preventive arrangements are completed in advance. The meeting also reviewed the cleaning and desilting status of all drains passing through the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the department to complete the cleaning of all district drains before June 30, so that uninterrupted water flow is maintained during the rainy season and drainage congestion is avoided. He stressed that drain maintenance, desilting and obstruction removal are essential components of effective flood management.
The meeting was attended by trainee IAS Vishal Singh, Superintending Engineer Satpal Dalal, Executive Engineers Arun Munjal, Rajesh Bhardwaj, Rajiv Rathi and Rahul, along with other departmental officials.
