DC Sachin Gupta directs the Horticulture Department to undertake branding of beekeepers
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta directed the officers of the Horticulture Department to undertake branding of beekeepers in the district so that they can receive better prices for honey. He emphasized creating awareness among beekeepers about maintaining honey quality and adopting proper packaging practices. He said that efforts should be made to increase the income of beekeepers while ensuring the availability of high-quality honey to consumers.
Rohtak, December 24, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta directed the officers of the Horticulture Department to undertake branding of beekeepers in the district so that they can receive better prices for honey. He emphasized creating awareness among beekeepers about maintaining honey quality and adopting proper packaging practices. He said that efforts should be made to increase the income of beekeepers while ensuring the availability of high-quality honey to consumers.
The Deputy Commissioner was reviewing the implementation of various schemes of the Horticulture Department during a meeting held at the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat. He informed that the government has included honey under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana to promote beekeeping. This year, 13 beekeepers have registered under the scheme. Among them, one farmer, Manoj, has 1,600 bee boxes, while another, Sanjay, has 1,200 bee boxes. Under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, 1,293 acres of land were registered, out of which verification has been completed for 870 acres by the department.
DC Sachin Gupta said that under the Chief Minister’s Horticulture Scheme being implemented to promote horticulture, registration has been completed for 26 acres, and verification has also been carried out. He emphasized the need to provide training to encourage citizens to adopt horticulture crops. In this regard, the department will organize training programmes on January 15 and 16. To motivate farmers to take up horticulture, an exposure visit to Rajasthan has also been organized.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry, Dr. Surya Khatkar; Deputy Director, Agriculture, Dr. Surender Malik; District Fisheries Officer, Asha Hooda; District Horticulture Officer, Dr. Madan Lal; District Soil Conservation Officer, Dr. Neena Sehrawat; SDO Dr. Narendra Dahiya; SDAO Sandeep Singh; APOs Meghna, Jwala Singh, Nitesh, Amit, Deepak Singh, and Sombir, along with other concerned officers.
