Rohtak, January 29, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the ongoing crushing season of Rohtak and Meham Cooperative Sugar Mills and directed the officers concerned to ensure uninterrupted operations, timely farmer payments and focused measures to bring the mills into profit.
The meeting was held at the Video Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat, where Managing Directors and senior officials of Bhali Anandpur–based Rohtak Sugar Mill and Meham Sugar Mill participated. The Deputy Commissioner stressed improving operational efficiency, reducing forced stoppages, strengthening preventive maintenance and raising sugar recovery to 9 percent.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the management to explore avenues for selling sugar at better rates, coordinate closely with HAFED, and expand supplies to government agencies. He also reviewed stock position, by-product utilisation, power export, working-capital management, subsidy claims and statutory compliance, directing officers to optimise revenue streams while maintaining financial discipline.
Emphasising continuous mill functioning, the Deputy Commissioner said all repair and maintenance requirements should be identified in advance and rectified comprehensively so that avoidable shutdowns do not affect crushing operations.
During the review, it was informed that in the current season so far, about 11 lakh quintals of cane have been crushed at Rohtak Sugar Mill, while around 8.40 lakh quintals have been crushed at Meham Sugar Mill.
The Deputy Commissioner also sought detailed information regarding cane supply, gate-waiting time, vigilance issues and payments to farmers, reiterating the administration’s commitment to transparency and timely disbursement of dues. He appealed to farmers to supply clean and fresh cane to help improve recovery rates and noted that the State Government has fixed the cane price at ₹415 per quintal for early varieties and ₹408 per quintal for medium and late varieties.
