Rohtak, February 5, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta today directed officers of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department Haryana to intensify awareness campaigns among livestock farmers through animal fairs and outreach programmes to prevent the spread of animal diseases.
Chairing a meeting at the Mini Secretariat auditorium, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that regular veterinary health camps, disease screening and sample collection must be conducted across the district. He further directed officials to utilise the ongoing State-level Animal Exhibition at Kurukshetra to educate cattle rearers about common livestock diseases and preventive measures.
Officials informed that 12 veterinary camps have already been organised in the district, during which livestock owners were also briefed about various welfare schemes of the department.
District Veterinary Disease Surveillance Officer Shobhana Singh stated that the department is on high alert against diseases such as Brucellosis, Avian Influenza, Glanders, Tuberculosis and African Swine Fever. She added that close monitoring is being maintained on migratory birds and ducks, with routine sampling underway.
She further informed that strict surveillance is being carried out at brick-kiln sites where horses and mules are employed; as such locations remain vulnerable to the spread of glanders. Regular vaccination drives are also being conducted to prevent outbreaks and safeguard livestock health.
Concluding the review, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised that the district administration remains committed to early detection, rapid response and sustained farmer awareness to protect animal health and strengthen rural livelihoods.
