DC Sachin Gupta advises Citizens to Take Precautions against Heatwave and Extreme Summer Conditions
In view of the rising temperatures and prevailing heatwave conditions, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta has appealed to citizens to exercise utmost caution and strictly follow heat safety advisories to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
Rohtak, May 20, 2026: In view of the rising temperatures and prevailing heatwave conditions, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta has appealed to citizens to exercise utmost caution and strictly follow heat safety advisories to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
He said prolonged exposure to extreme heat can pose serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups, and urged residents to remain alert, adopt preventive measures and avoid unnecessary exposure during peak daytime hours.
“Extreme summer conditions can have serious health consequences if precautions are ignored. Public safety is the top priority, and citizens are advised to remain vigilant and follow preventive measures to stay safe,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
The Deputy Commissioner advised citizens to avoid stepping out in direct sunlight between 12 noon and 4 PM, when temperatures are typically at their highest. If travel or outdoor work is unavoidable, citizens have been advised to; cover the head properly, wear light-coloured, loose cotton clothing, carry drinking water while travelling and avoid prolonged physical exertion in direct sunlight.
DC Sachin Gupta emphasised the importance of maintaining adequate hydration during the summer season. Citizens have been advised to consume sufficient drinking water, lemon water, buttermilk, lassi and ORS or electrolyte solutions. These measures help prevent dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
The Deputy Commissioner cautioned that heat-related illness can escalate rapidly if ignored. Common warning signs include; High fever, Severe headache, Dizziness, Excessive sweating or sudden absence of sweating, Weakness, Vomiting, and Fainting or altered consciousness.
Citizens experiencing such symptoms have been advised to immediately move to a shaded or cool place, lower body temperature and seek medical assistance from the nearest health facility without delay.
Special caution has been advised for Children, Elderly persons, Pregnant women and Persons with pre-existing illnesses.
The Deputy Commissioner said these groups are more vulnerable to heat-related complications and require additional care and monitoring. Livestock owners have also been urged to ensure adequate protection for animals by providing continuous access to clean drinking water, proper shade and ventilation, regular monitoring and care during extreme heat.
The Deputy Commissioner said all concerned departments and public service agencies have been directed to remain alert and ensure effective heat preparedness.
Instructions have been issued to maintain uninterrupted drinking water supply, ensure water availability at public places wherever required, keep health institutions prepared for heat-related emergencies, and strengthen first-response arrangements for medical assistance.
