DC personally inspects mining sites; directs SDMs to ensure strict compliance

Ludhiana, November 1, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, today personally inspected mining sites in the district, including the site at Khaira Bet, to review on-ground compliance with mining norms.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner directed all Sub Divisional Magistrates to ensure that mining in their sub-divisions is carried out strictly within permitted limits and as per the applicable rules. He also directed that the safeguards prescribed by the district administration be followed at every site, so that legal mining can be clearly distinguished from illegal activity.
The SDMs were asked to carry out regular checks in their areas and submit compliance reports to the district administration at the earliest.
Himanshu Jain, said the district administration is committed to curbing illegal mining. Strict action will be taken against any violation, and officials found negligent will be held accountable.
