Nawanshahr, May 2- In a bid to crackdown on the drug menace in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa on Monday launched Drug Free Helpline ‘9501065718’ and asked the people to share the information about the persons involved or associated with the drug peddling in the district.

Anyone can give tip-off about drug menace in their areas either by sharing messages, videos or pics, said Deputy Commissioner and added this would help the administration to eliminate the drug smuggling from SBS Nagar.

He said the identity of person giving information on drugs and liquor would not be revealed to anybody. He told that the helpline number would be operational round-the-clock in service of people. He said that administration had already announced to give cash reward of Rs 51000 for the informer whose tip-off lead to seizure of commercial quantity of narcotics drugs.

Soliciting fulsome support and cooperation from people in this regard, NPS Randhawa said the prime motive of the helpline is to completely wipe out the drug peddling.

He said that state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed to making Punjab a drug-free state by ensuring strict and effective enforcement of the law.
