DC Kapurthala says under centrally sponsored schemes Rs. 2.38 Crore distributed to 6202 beneficiaries

Kapurthala, October 24, 2013: Punjab Government is running various schemes in the state to uplift the status of poor people by providing them financial support. Under the old pension, Widow Pension, Dependent Children and Handicapped persons scheme Punjab Government distributed rupees 14 Crore 56 lakh 22 thousand to the 48817 beneficiaries in the year 2012.

Disclosing this here today, DS Mangat, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala said that during this year more than Rs 6 Crore has been distributed to the pension beneficiaries of the various schemes till the month of May.

Deputy Commissioner said that pension of June 2013 would be released soon. He added that Social Securities Department is committed to provide pensions to all the eligible persons and has also launched a campaign to weed out the illegal pensioners. He said that 48058 beneficiaries are benefiting under various pension schemes in the district.

Mangat said that Rs 10.11 lakh were distributed to the 33640 benificiries of the old age pensioners in the year 2012, Rs. 2.22 crore were distributed to the 7609 beneficiaries of the widow pension scheme, Rs 1.14 Crore were distributed to the 3694 beneficiaries of the dependent children pension scheme and Rs 1.8 Crore were distributed to the 3874 beneficiaries of the Handicapped pension scheme.

Deputy Commissioner said that under the centrally sponsored schemes Rs. 2.38 Crore were distributed to the 6202 beneficiaries. www.cityairnews.com
