Ludhiana, September 9, 2025: Following recent heavy rainfall that has caused water accumulation in some parts of the district, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain has issued an urgent public health advisory to protect residents from potential health risks.
In a video message released on Tuesday, Jain highlighted the potential risks posed by stagnant water, which could lead to outbreak in the coming days if not addressed promptly.
To safeguard public health, Deputy Commissioner Jain strongly advised residents to consume only boiled water for drinking. He noted that if the water supply is chlorinated, it is safe for consumption; however, if it is not, residents should filter the water and then boil it before use to eliminate any contaminants.
Jain also emphasized the importance of preventing water stagnation in homes and localities. He urged the residents to remove standing water from containers such as tyres, coolers, and unused utensils. Additionally, efforts should be made to clear water accumulated in streets and other public areas to reduce the risk of health hazards caused by stagnant water.
Deputy Commissioner Jain also stressed the need for immediate action in case of health concerns, particularly among children. Residents experiencing symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhoea are advised to seek treatment at the nearest civil hospital without delay to ensure timely medical intervention.
Reassuring the community, Jain underscored the district administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of residents. The administration is actively taking proactive measures to address the challenges posed by the recent rainfall and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens. He encouraged residents to use the 104 state-level health helpline for any kind of emergency.
