DC inspects full dress rehearsal of 75th Independence Day function

Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal on Friday participated in the full dress rehearsal to mark the 75th Independence Day celebrations in the local Guru Nanak Stadium.

During the full dress rehearsal, the Deputy Commissioner hoisted the national flag and took a salute from the impressive march past led by ACP Randhir Singh parade commander. 

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police gave the necessary directions to the forces and the officers regarding the fool-proof preparations for the mega event in which Food, Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu would hoist the national tri-color on August 15.

They reiterated the firm commitment of the administration to observe this mega event in an unprecedented manner.

They said that the preparations for this mega event were going on in full swing and every effort would be made to make sure that auspicious day was celebrated with full patriotic and nationalistic fervor.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police further said that the officers have been assigned duties regarding the event and any sort of callousness in this duty was unwarranted and undesirable.

They stated that the district level 75th Independence Day function this year would be a low key affair in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. They said that as per the government's guidelines this time gathering would be limited and the function would be kept simple. 

They told that there would not be any cultural functions due to Covid-19 pandemic. Later, they also held separate meetings with the officials. 

On the occasion, Joint Commissioner of Police J. Elanchezhian, Deepak Pareek, DCP Ashwani Kapoor, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rahul Chaba, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr Harjinder Bedi, SDM Dr Vaneet Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Parleen Kaur Kaleka and others were present.
