DC inspects Dhussi Bandh strengthening work in Sasrali Colony and Garhi Fazil

Ludhiana, September 9, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Tuesday evening inspected the on-going Dhussi Bandh strengthening works in Sasrali Colony and Garhi fazil village and assured the people that the situation in Ludhiana is fully under control.

Accompanied by SDMs Dr Baljinder Singh Dhillon, Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, drainage department officials, Indian Army personnel, and local villagers, Jain assessed the progress of the embankments reinforcement. He emphasized that the stone stud laying work is advancing rapidly under expert supervision. He also stated that the district administration has already placed more machinery including poclains, JCBs and brought stone boulders and more labour here for speedy completion.

Jain emphasized that dedicated teams are working around the clock at all critical points along the Bandh. He expressed gratitude to the villagers for their unwavering support in the strengthening effort and stated the district administration is deeply indebted to them for their unwavering cooperation. He also commended the Indian Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for their critical technical assistance in reinforcing the embankments and continuously monitoring vulnerable areas. While excessive water pressure had previously caused minor soil erosion, allowing water to seep into nearby fields, the drop in water levels is expected to alleviate these issues. He added that senior district officials are stationed at key locations along with Bandh, maintaining 24/7 vigilance to ensure the situation remains under control.
