DC Inaugurates Crèche and Breastfeeding Centre at Mini Secretariat in Dharamshala
In a step towards supporting working mothers and promoting child welfare, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa today inaugurated a Crèche and Breastfeeding Centre in the premises of the Mini Secretariat, Dharamshala. The centre has been set up by the Department of Women and Child Development to cater to the needs of children aged 6 months to 6 years.

Dharamshala, August 1, 2025: In a step towards supporting working mothers and promoting child welfare, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa today inaugurated a Crèche and Breastfeeding Centre in the premises of the Mini Secretariat, Dharamshala. The centre has been set up by the Department of Women and Child Development to cater to the needs of children aged 6 months to 6 years.
Located in the heart of Kangra district's administrative headquarters, the facility aims to offer a safe and nurturing environment for infants and young children, especially those of women employees working in the Mini Secretariat, as well as visitors to the office. The centre will remain open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
Marking the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7), the Deputy Commissioner also flagged off an awareness rally and addressed Anganwadi workers gathered for the event. He emphasized the critical role of breastfeeding in the physical and cognitive development of children and called for increased awareness and community support for nursing mothers.
"This initiative will especially benefit the women employees working here and reflects our administration’s commitment to gender-sensitive governance," said DC Hemraj Bairwa. "We are determined to ensure that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach every eligible woman and child in the district."
He further highlighted ongoing initiatives such as Mission Tripti and Mission Bharpoor, which are being implemented effectively across Kangra to improve maternal and child health outcomes.
