DC holds meeting with health officials over swine flu prevention and control
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Wednesday held a virtual meeting with the officials about strategies for preventing and managing the spread of swine flu within the district.
Ludhiana, September 11, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Wednesday held a virtual meeting with the officials about strategies for preventing and managing the spread of swine flu within the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Civil Surgeon Dr. Pradeep Mahindra, and other senior officials.
Sawhney stressed the importance of establishing flu corners and dedicated areas for swine flu patients in every hospital to guarantee quick medical care for those suspected of having the flu. She instructed the health department to launch educational programs through ASHA workers, Aam Aadmi Clinics, and local health centers.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Pradeep Mahindra provided details on swine flu (H1N1), a virus transmitted through airborne droplets. He outlined the signs of the illness, which include high fever, persistent cough, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, and shortness of breath.
Dr. Mahindra recommended measures to avoid contracting swine flu, such as covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, frequent hand washing, staying away from crowded places, wearing masks, and staying hydrated. He also pointed out that the government hospitals offer free swine flu tests and medication.
