In a major boost to sports infrastructure and athlete development, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Tuesday inaugurated an upgraded hi-tech fitness gym equipped with ultra-modern machines and advanced training equipment at the Multipurpose Hall of Guru Nanak Stadium.
Ludhiana, May 19, 2026: In a major boost to sports infrastructure and athlete development, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Tuesday inaugurated an upgraded hi-tech fitness gym equipped with ultra-modern machines and advanced training equipment at the Multipurpose Hall of Guru Nanak Stadium.
The state-of-the-art facility has been revamped and modernised at a cost of Rs 74 lakh by the Punjab Government with the objective of providing world-class fitness and training infrastructure to athletes. The upgraded gym is the first facility of its kind in the state aimed exclusively at strengthening the physical conditioning and performance of sportspersons.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain stated that the district administration is fully committed to providing top-class facilities and a professional training environment to athletes so that they can compete at national and international levels with confidence. He added that players possess the potential to bring laurels to the state and the country, should never face obstacles due to inadequate infrastructure or lack of modern equipment. He added that the upgraded gym would play a significant role in improving the fitness, endurance and overall performance of athletes across different sporting disciplines.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that sports infrastructure is being strengthened continuously to encourage youth participation in sports and channel their energy in a positive direction. He stressed that modern fitness facilities are essential in today’s competitive sporting environment where scientific training and physical conditioning are key factors behind success.
The newly upgraded gym features advanced strength-training and cardio equipment along with specialised fitness machines designed to cater to the needs of professional athletes as well as budding sportspersons. The facility will benefit hundreds of players who regularly train at Guru Nanak Stadium.
