Ludhiana, January 19, 2026: The Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain conducted an inspection visit to the Bus Stand to review the ongoing works aimed at making the facility disabled-friendly and inclusive.

This initiative is being implemented by the District Administration in collaboration with Act Humane Foundation, with a focus on serving the needs of the differently-abled population. The inspection was carried out to assess progress on the ground and to identify and resolve issues faced during the implementation of the project.

Under Phase–I, key accessibility interventions include the installation of tactile pathways, Braille signages, safety railings, ramps, and disabled-friendly washrooms equipped with emergency alarm systems. Upon completion, this phase will cater to over 5,000 daily commuters, significantly improving accessibility, safety, and ease of movement.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to ensure strict adherence to universal accessibility norms and timely completion of all works.

It was informed that Phase–II of the project will extend accessibility measures to public transport buses, further strengthening inclusive mobility across the district.

Tansheen Kaur, under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner, has been actively coordinating with all stakeholders and working closely with departments and partner organisations to facilitate effective implementation of the initiative.

The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to creating inclusive and accessible public infrastructure, ensuring dignity and equal opportunities for all citizens.
