Ludhiana, March 13, 2026: District Administration Ludhiana today issued a firm assurance that there is absolutely no cause for panic regarding the availability of LPG cylinders/diesel/petrol confirming that the district currently holds adequate stock to meet public demand.
While chairing a meeting with all Petrol Pump owners and LPG gas agency owners, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain clarified that the supply chain is functioning smoothly and stocks are sufficient and urged residents to refrain from indulging in panic buying, stating that unnecessary hoarding creates artificial shortages and disrupts the distribution system.
Jain stated that there is no need for the public to panic and the district has sufficient stock of LPG cylinders/diesel/petrol. He appealed to the citizens to not be swayed by rumours and panicky buying will only cause inconvenience to others. He informed that the administration has sought daily detailed reports regarding the stock and supply status of LPG, diesel, and petrol in the district to ensure seamless availability of all essential fuels.
He informed that to check shortage or black marketing of LPG, a high powered committee under the chairmanship of ADC General Poonam Singh has also been formed. The other members of this committee are ACA GLADA, Joint Commissioner MCL, ACP Headquarters, District Excise and Taxation Commissioner, DFSC (East and West).
He said that this committee would keep a check on black marketing/illegal holding/storage of LPG cylinders in district Ludhiana. The committee would also keep a close watch to ensure that domestic LPG cylinders are not used for commercial purposes, all gas agencies would ensure that their phone numbers/helpline numbers remain operational so that people do not panic, if any resident is not able to make online booking of LPG cylinders, the gas agency would ensure that offline booking is available, etc.
He also reiterated the commitment to maintaining essential supplies and warned against spreading misinformation regarding shortages. He also advised the citizens to rely on official communications for updates on stock availability.
