DC distributes 150 hygiene kits among Safai Karamcharis

Nawanshahr, April 26, 2022: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa on Tuesday exhorted the people to to shun the use of plastic carry bags and give their wholeheartedly support to the administration in making Nawanshahr plastic-free city.
While distributing 130 hygiene kits among Safai Karamcharis of Nawanshahr Municipal Council, along with AAP senior leader Lalit Mohan Pathak, ADC (UD) Amit Sareen, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that there is need to give up the use of plastic bags, which causes damage to the environment and appealed the people to switch over to alternative products like jute bags. He said that these environment-friendly bags can be instrumental in eliminating the environmental problem being caused by plastic bags. He said that the jute or clothes bags do not cause any harm to the environment or human health and whereas the plastic bags do not get decomposed for several years.
He expressed hope that the active support and cooperation of the people, Nawanshahr would be frontrunner city as a clean, green, pollution and plastic-free district.
Meanwhile, NPS Randhawa added that these hygiene kits have been provided through Indian Red Cross Society and comprise hand washing soaps, liquid handwash, pair of gloves, masks, sanitary napkins and other items.
