Ludhiana, July 18, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain has formed a committee led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Rupinder Pal Singh to initiate DNA testing of children found begging with adults on Ludhiana's streets. The drive, starting next week, aims to verify familial relationships and curb child trafficking.
The committee includes the District Child Protection Officer, District Education Officers (Secondary and Primary), the Civil Surgeon, and representatives from the Commissioner of Police and Municipal Corporation Ludhiana.
The committee is tasked with conducting raids across Ludhiana to identify such children and perform DNA tests to confirm their relationship with accompanying adults. Pending test results, children will be placed in childcare institutions for their safety and protection.
