DC and CP solicit support of NGOs to assist administration in war against covid-19 pandemic

Ludhiana: In its fight against COVID-19 pandemic, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal on Wednesday solicited fulsome support of the Non-Government organizations to tackle the second wave of infectious disease efficaciously.

Presiding over a meeting with NGOs in Bachat Bhawan, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said that Covid is not over yet and people need to follow all Covid protocols to halt the spread of the virus.

They said that the NGOs has a vital role in the sensitization of the people about precautions including wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and washing hands time to time to keep the virus at bay.

They said that the surge in the cases are being witnessed as the people are violating the precautions balantly against whom challan drive is being carried out.

They added that NGO's volunteers are connected with thousands of people at grassroots and asked them to leave no stone unturned to ensure every resident must adhere to Covid protocols including mask wearing and keeping physical distancing as these will help to break chain.

They pointed that NGOs volunteers must use small videos disseminating the information of Covid protocols and share among their groups as visuals leave indelible imprints on minds.

They further asked them to create awareness about Covid vaccination drive to protect healthcare, frontline workers and vulnerable population from the disease.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said next two weeks are most important to deal the virus effectively and urged
the citizens to keep following all norms of social distancing and health protocols.

They assured that administration was fully equipped to take on this challenge posed by deadly virus and people have to contribute in this battle by following all norms.

Further, they appealed all NGOs to get Covid jab immediately and asked health department to register them as frontline workers as volunteers have done efficient work during curfew and lockdown.

Prominent among present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioners Sandeep Kumar, Amarjit Bains, Sakattar Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhjeewan Kakkar and others.
