Khanna, October 19, 2015: It was a day of traffic blockades in Khanna Police District as vehicular traffic was blocked at six places around Khanna apart from a protest march against the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Hundreds of college students including girls blocked vehicular traffic up to 1pm on Ludhiana- Ambala road. 
In the same way Sikh activists in large number blocked traffic on Ludhiana- Ambala road for about four hours near Manji Sahib Kottan and raised slogans against the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at different places in the state. 
They alleged that state government had failed to protect the honour of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and even killed two innocent Sikh youths in police firing. Amrik Singh Issru, Baba Punjab Singh Madpur and other leaders addressed this dharna. The protesters raised slogans against SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar and Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal for failing to save the interests of the Sikh Panth and termed them “anti-Sikhs”. The traffic blockage was opened at about 2 pm by the protesters.
Due to the blockade of GT road the traffic was diverted through other routes and the   commuters had to face difficulties to reach their destinations. Another busy road Khanna – Malerkotla road was also blocked by Sikh activists of several villages at village Ikolaha causing problems to the commuters. Jatinder Singh Khalsa Vice President State of United Akali Dal led this dharna and appealed the Sikh Sangat to observe “Black Diwali” this time against the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Another group of Sikh activists blocked Payal- Malod road near village Dhamot. In the same way Payal- Kup road was blocked near village Madnipur. Sant Darshan Singh Dhakki Wale along with a number of his followers blocked traffic for some time at Payal and later presented a memorandum to SDM Payal demanding action against the alleged accused responsible for the sacrilege.
At Samrala a protest march was organised up to Machhiwara in which Sikh youths led by Samrala Vikas Manch leader Paramjit Singh along with others. This protest march started from Gurdwara Sahib Singh Sabha Main Chowk Samrala and ended at Machhiwara. The youths with black ribbons participated in this march. The main attraction of this march was that some Hindu youths and Muslim youths also participated in this march. This protest march was addressed by former Akal Takhat Jathedar Ranjit Singh in Gurdwara Sahib at Samrala and he left after this march proceeded towards Machhiwara. SP(D) Khanna Satinder Pal Singh who was looking security arrangements on the spot at most of places stated that all the traffic blockades remained peaceful in Khanna Police District along with protest march. He said that no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in Khanna Police District. He stated that although commuters had to face some problems due to traffic blockade but the traffic was diverted through other routes for the welfare of commuters.
