Hyderabad, August 22, 2019: After fourth round shape and champions changed on day three of the Tournament on Thursday. 160 players including 45 from Telangana and 22 International from 10 countries are competing in this 8day tournament. First board second seed GM Smirnov Pavel of Russia lost against Pranav V of Tamil Nadu. At the end of fourth round total four players took joint lead namely IM Triapishko Alexandr, IM Khusenkhojaev Muhammad, GM Karthikeyan P. and Pranav V scored four points each. On first board, Pranav V of Tamil Nadu - India opened game with King’s pawn at e4. The opponent GM Smirnov Pavel of Russia replied with c5 the Sicilian Defence. It is changed course and fixed to Nimzovich-Rossolimo Attack of ECO code B31. In 42nd move of Smirnov Rh8 was blunder as Stockfish. Pranav caught the mistake and appropriately played Ne7. This made him exchange up for white. Around move 59 Pavel accepted loss. On second board, Bhambure Shantanu of Maharashtra - India opened game with Queen’s pawn at d4. The opponent IM Triapishko Alexandr of Russia replied with Nf6 the Nimzo-Indian defence. They played Ragozin variation having ECO code E20. On 50th turn of making move by Shatanu, he accepted defeat. On third board, GM Mosadeghpour Masoud of Iran opened game with King’s pawn at e4. The opponent Sahoo Utkal Ranjan of Odisha - India replied with e5 decided to play open game. The 3rd move of white changed opening from open game to Ruy Lopez. The variation played by them is Berlin Defence. The ECO code of this opening is C65. They accepted draw in 75th move since both of them made wall of pieces in such a way that opponent can not get through it. On fourth board, IM Khusenkhojaev Muhammad of Tajikishtan opened game with Queen’s pawn at d4. The opponent CM Kushagra Mohan of Telangana - India replied with Nf6 the Nimzo-Indian defence. They played Noa variation having ECO code E35. In 31st move Kushagra played Na4 which made his position downgraded. Later on, cached on this playing and creating centre passer pressure on Kushagra. With Kxc4 in 42nd move gave clear advantage to Khusenkhojaev. Kushagra accepted loss in 54th move. On fifth board, FM Aaryan Varshney of Delhi - India opened game with Queen’s pawn at d4. The opponent GM Laxman R.R. of ICF replied with Nf6. This move followed by c4 pressing for Queen’s gambit. Laxman declined the offer and tried to retain centre.
