Day-3 of 78th Kila Raipur Sports Festival/ Full house attendance at stadium tops action of day

Kila Raipur (Ludhiana), February 1, 2014: The carnival continued to attract thousands of spectators as they thronged  the open air stadium on the penultimate day of the 78th Kila Raipur Sports Festival here on Saturday.

Full house attendance at the stadium topped the action of the day. Second to none the audience was anticipating much action, and they went home satisfied at the end of the day.

Greyhounds stole the thunder and captivated the crowds, as they darted for the fast moving artificial rabbit. Sugar Chitri  made its owner, Dhat brothers, proud by winning the dog racing competion, which had 35 greyhounds participating. Raunaki Kala, owned by Baldev Singh Sidhu of Chand purana finished in second place and Blacki Kala, owned by Sonu of Rangia finished in third place.

Bhagwant Memorial hockey tournament  for teh 1kg Gold Cup, saw Hockey Academy Kila Raipur beat Bhudlada by 3-2, In the second match Bhudlada beat Grewal Club Kila Raipur 2-1.In the Women Compitition Kairon Hockey Academy beat Kila Raipur 5-0, second match Badal wing beat Govt. College Ludhiana 4-0.
In six a side hockey on the Synthetic Turf,Malwa School  beat  Bhatinda by 8 goals to 3, Jarkhar Academy be at Baba Bakala 12-3, Grewal Acadwmy beat Malwa School by 7-5.

Setting the pace for the day  in the Senior’s 100 m (age 75-80) finals, Chajju Ram from  village Dhanaula won with a timing of 15.63 sec. In women’s 100 m finals, Shavi of Patiala was the fastest woman of the event with a timing of 12.30. 400 m men had a winner from Lucknow, Neeraj finished in 49.41sec, while Pushpa CHahal from Delhi won with 51.28 sec timing to finish 1st. in 1500 m men Kuldeep Singh of BSF clocked 4 m 3.3 sec to win the race.

The event was made colorful by events that included Horses and Camels dancing on the tunes of the drum beats, Baazigars attempting feats like pulling a Maruti Ritz with ears and then with hair, Picking a weight of 80 kg with his teeth, getting run over by a tractor, fire eating, etc. Nihangs made their mark again with a facinating display of Gatka, Fire eating and horse riding skills, including tent pegging and standing atop two horses at high speed.

The New Holland Tractor Trolly Loading-Unloading contest was interesting as the participants had to outdo the other team with a fine balance of Skill and Speed.

Bullock Cart race saw the tracks blazing again as the top 48 contenders had little to speperate them from one another. Marching towards the finals, the races enthralled every one in the stadium.

Attractive  offers by sponsors Maruti Suzuki and New Holland saw many visiting their stalls to enquire about the products. As a special gesture Maruti Suzuki had announced Rs 2100 and New Holland Rs 15000 off their car and tractor products respectively. It bodes well for Kila Raiour Sports Festival, as the visitors get that extra benefit.
