Jalandhar, July 26, 2019: The first day of Apeejay Stya Model United Nations (ASMUN) began with great enthusiasm at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar.

The chief guest of the day Deepa Daasmunshi, Former Union Minister and President of West Bengal, Congress; Sharmistha Mukherjee, President of Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress & Spokesperson of Indian National Congress; Krishna Allavaru, Joint Secretary, Indian National Congress; Pranav Jha, Secretary, Indian National Congress & All India Incharge of Media and Communication; Smith Singh, International Sportsperson were present.

The announcers Bhavya Sareen, Hitesh Bhandhari and Rupali Sehgal welcomed all the guests with fresh bunch of flowers. During ASMUN, the tribute was paid to former Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheela Dixit by remembering her political journey and her contribution in the betterment of society.

The members of The 20’s band, Raj Dhiman, Gagan Chahuhan, Gurjit Singh, Sam, Pulkit khanna, Diksha Sharma, sung the enthusiastic song “Jai Ho” melodiously and awed the gathering.

The founder of ASMUN, Gautam Seth opened the evening with his charged up views and the motto of ASMUN where crucial topics as unemployment, gender inequality, social discrimination on the basis of religion and caste shall be discussed. He put forth that being the youth of the country and the citizens here it is our moral responsibilities to raise our voice and do something about it.

Deepa DassMunshi in context of same conversation added that there is no denying that many social problems in our society exist but today’s youth in the contemporary age has the power not only to choose but to create the path.

Sharmistha Mukherjee added that in the era of so many social problems around us; our youth, which constitutes 90% of the population, has the capability to work extraordinarily in any field. She added being responsible youth, we need to choose any issue around us and should volunteer for the rest of life to work on it in order to make our country better.

Pranav Jha put forth that not all the people are privileged enough to have such platforms and talk about the sufferings they are going through; in such conditions it becomes our responsibility to reach them and listen what they have to say and try to find the solutions of their problems.
Krishna Allavaru put forth that problems like unemployment, corruption, women exploitation etc. lead to pain only but in such dark moments its only hope which could help anyone to go through it. So, youth should never let the hope fly away.

Smit Singh added that we should always listen to our conscience and work to achieve our goals and not bother about “What people will say”.

The Advisor of ASMUN Aaron Mirza talked about the right usage of power of vote during elections in the light of above discussion.

Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma putting forth her views on ASMUN said that such opportunities aware students about national and international issues which will help them to recognize their role for the better society and country. She was happy to share that 700 delegates have participated in ASMUN and Apeejay College of Fine Arts is joyous to host and conduct such events.
