DAVIET organises Disaster Management Awareness Programme

Jalandhar, October 21, 2015: DAVIET’s Civil Engineering Department organised a Disaster Management Programme-cum-Exhibition for the students of Civil Engineering in association with the District Administration and the Commandant 7 Battalion of National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) in order to raise consciousness and train the budding engineers towards disaster response and management techniques thereof by way of demonstrating mock area familiarization exercises. The mock drill included live demonstration w.r.t. chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear emergencies in the residential and industrial fields. The major highlight of the programme remained the exhibition of key equipment being used by NDRF for the purpose of disaster management in the country. 
Mr. M K Kaushik, Asstt. Professor (Civil Engg. Department) formally welcomed Sh. Ram K Malviya and Sh. Montu Kumar, the worthy Resource Persons, from the Commandant 7 Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). He also gave a brief introduction to the theme of the programme and motivated the students to have hands on experience by way of their active participation in this seminar-cum-exhibition.
Sh. Ram K Malviya and Sh. Montu Kumar from the Commandant 7 Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) gave live demonstration by way of conducting an area familiarization exercise / mock drill along with the important information on First Aid Measures at the time emergency. The demo session also highlighted certain crisp techniques so as to manage disaster-hit area professionally and to ensure efficient results. 
Dr. Sanjeev Naval, HoD (Civil Engg. Department) encapsulated the need and scope of various management techniques in relation to executing quality disaster rescue operations. He said that learning the basics of disaster management is a collective responsibility of each one of us so as to contribute our bit at the time of need. 
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal of the Institute applauded the efforts of the organizing Department and expressed his gratitude for the Resource Persons for conducting a meaningful and motivating awareness drive in the Institute. The worthy Principal also expressed a fervent desire to extend such training to all the stakeholders of the Institute.
