DAV University hosts District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026

Jalandhar, November 19, 2025: DAV University, Jalandhar, successfully organized the District-Level Youth Parliament Youth Parliament 2026, focusing on the topic: “50 Years of Emergency – Lessons for Indian Democracy.” This event is part of the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Program (Phase I) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports providing a vibrant platform for youth aged 18–25 to deliberate on the theme 
The event drew registration from more than 130 students across the district, highlighting widespread enthusiasm for civic engagement and democratic leadership.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. S.K. Arora, Registrar, DAV University, who remarked, “Youth Parliament is not just an activity; it is a powerful medium to nurture responsible citizens who can think critically and lead with integrity. DAV University remains committed to shaping young minds with values, confidence and a spirit of service.”
The Chief Guest, Rajan Gupta, Retired IPS Officer and Executive Director, DAV University, also addressed the gathering, stating, “Young people must recognize the enormous potential they hold in shaping India’s future. Platforms like the Youth Parliament equip them with the skills of debate, dialogue and democratic participation—skills that our country needs as it marches toward a Viksit Bharat.”
The event featured an eminent jury comprising Dr. Satish Sharma; Satpal Singh, Assistant Professor, GNDU; Sharad Manocha, Associate Professor, DAV College Jalandhar; Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, State Vice-President BJP Punjab; and Dr. Amit Kansal, Associate Professor, SUS College Sunam. Participants engaged in intensive discussions and parliamentary simulations, displaying their analytical abilities, leadership qualities and commitment to public issues.
Following a detailed evaluation, the jury selected ten students to represent District Jalandhar at the State-Level Youth Parliament 2026: Dilpreet Kaur, Raj Roshan Rai, Ekta, Vanshika, Manvi, Apurva, Mohit Verma, Gopesh, Pahul Jabal and Mitali Mahajan. Alternates include Sarthik and Riya.
The event introduction and guidelines were provided by Dr. Samriti Khosla, NSS Coordinator, who also presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Rahul anchored the event.The programme was convened by Dr. Mamta Goel with support from Co-Conveners Dr. Rahul Kumar, Dr. Ranjodh Singh and Dr. Vidya Pandey and NSS programme officers Dr. Rekha Gaba, Dr. Chanderpal Singh, Dr. Lakhmir and Dr. Harpreet contributed significantly to the successful organisation of the programme.
DAV University reiterated its commitment to empowering the youth with 21st-century skills and strengthening democratic participation through such initiatives.
