Dassault Systemes and IIT Ropar join hands to drive student led innovation and research on agriculture and water
During the eight weeks of internship, the interns will receive extensive training
Chandigarh: Dassault Systèmes has associated with IIT Ropar’s Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub (AWaDH) to support the university’s Online Internship Carnival – an eight week online internship program for design and engineering students. Under the theme- Technovations in the domain of agriculture and water and as part of this association, Dassault Systemes will be providing the participants with access to 3DEXPERIENCE platform on Cloud powered by brand applications like CATIA, SIMULIA, DELMIA, ENOVIA, BIOVIA, NETVIBES and dedicated training sessions from the design and simulation experts from 3DEXPERIENCE Edu during the internship.
Students in the second/third/fourth year of engineering undergraduation or equivalent program from any engineering institute/college/university, with specialization in streams like Aerospace, Computer Science & Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy, Materials, Civil Engineering and more, are eligible for participation. AWaDH will be constituting interdisciplinary teams of interns and assign them to work on special projects.
During the eight weeks of internship, the interns will receive extensive training on design thinking, material selection, advance CAD (Computer Aided Design) practices, CFD (Computation Fluid Dynamics) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis), advance topics in systems level modeling, life cycle analysis, project management, patent search, manufacturing simulations and techno-economic analysis. They will get to participate in brainstorming sessions, patent search and literature review. Furthermore, they will also learn about preparation of patent documents.
“IIT Ropar is committed to nurture academic and scientific excellence among our students to innovate and solve real world problems across different sectors. At AWaDH, we encourage and enable extensive interdisciplinary reasearch in the domains of Agriculture and Water. The Online Internship Carnival is part of this endeavour, and we are excited to associate with Dassault Systemes for this program” said Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar. “This association will not only provide the interns with the opportunity to use 3D design and engineering technology but also crucial learnings about the industry standards and best practices. ”
Starting from 24th May, the virtual internship will nurture 100 individuals across 20 teams. The winning teams from this program, will be offered paid internships for 6 months at IIT Ropar which they can do as per their academic schedule and convenience. They will also be offered travel and stay at IIT Ropar to explore the possibilities of future collaboration with the mentor faculty members. In addition to this, the top 5 out of 10 winning teams would be supported with a seed grant for running a start-up.
“At Dassault Systemes, we believe that enabling and upskilling students will inspire them to design, engineer products for the new consumer experiences for a sustainable future. From products to platform, from design to simulation, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on Cloud can transform how students learn, collaborate and innovate”, said Deepak NG, Managing Director, India, Dassault Systèmes'. He added, “Our association with IIT Ropar aligns with our long term vision of nurturing students as the workforce of the future and equip them with the skills that are sought after by the industry.”
