Dandiya beats turn SUPVA campus into a festive dance floor; Students celebrate Navratri with Garba

Rohtak, October 18, 2026: The rhythmic clacking of dandiya sticks and lively Garba beats transformed the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (SUPVA) campus into a festive dance floor as students celebrated Navratri with music, dance and traditional fervor.

Organised by Visual Arts students in the courtyard of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, the celebration opened with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp by Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya, Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha and Visual Arts faculty coordinator Vinay Kumar.

Dressed in vibrant traditional attire, students performed solo, duet and group dances to Gujarati folk songs and Garba music. Food stalls serving a variety of dishes added to the festive atmosphere.

The event aimed to familiarise students with India’s diverse cultural traditions. Students also offered prayers to Goddess Durga, seeking happiness, peace and prosperity.

VC Dr Arya said cultural events play a vital role in students’ holistic development by fostering self-confidence, leadership, teamwork and cultural awareness.

Members of the organising committee thanked the university administration, faculty and participants for making the celebration a memorable experience. Faculty members and non-teaching staff also attended the event.
