Dancesport Association, Haryana holds 1st State Breakdance Championship 

Panchkula, August 2, 2023:   Dancesport Association, Haryana(DSAH) organised the first State Breakdance Championship here. Thirty Breakdancers took part in the competition with full enthusiasm.  Renowned Dancers and Choreographers - B-Boy Wasim and Johnny were the judges in the championship.

In the Breaking competition, B-Boy Little Shadow was declared first, while B-Boy Keenju stood runner up in the competition.  Meanwhile in the All-Style competition, Abhishek stood first and Natasha was adjudged runner up.

It is imperative to mention that Breakdancing was one of four sports like sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing to be put forward for inclusion as additional sports' on the program for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Speaking on the occasion, Barsha, General Secretary, Dancesport Association, Haryana said, “We want to prepare  players from Haryana who will  represent India in the 2028 Olympics. For this, we need support from the Government of Haryana and sponsors as most of the players come from humble backgrounds and are not capable of bearing the cost of training. So, we request both sponsors and the Haryana Government to come forward and help us train breakdancers, so that the youngsters  bring laurels for our country at an international level.”

She added that in the Championship organised by DSAH some very talented Breakdancers of Haryana were identified who could be honed to represent India in Olympics 2028.

Suresh Verma, a Councillor from Panchkula, was  the chief guest at the event. He praised the young talented Break Dancers and wished them luck for a bright future. He also appreciated the organizers for providing such a great platform to the budding dancers and promoting this Dance sport.

Apart from Barsha other office bearers of DSAH who were present included Rahul Rana, Vice President and Ajay, Treasurer.
