Dance Competition: Tricity's Aashna Bagri shines in Asia Open Championship

Twenty-year-old Aashna Bagri from Panchkula has brought laurels to the tricity by winning the  Asia Open Championship at the Asia Pacific Dance Congress(APDC) Season-2 held in Dubai recently. Aashna is an alumna of Chandigarh's Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School.

Chandigarh, June 17, 2023: Twenty-year-old Aashna Bagri from Panchkula has brought laurels to the tricity by winning the  Asia Open Championship at the Asia Pacific Dance Congress(APDC) Season-2 held in Dubai recently. Aashna is an alumna of Chandigarh's Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School.  

Reflecting on her achievement, Aashna said: “Winning this competition was absolutely amazing as I had done Bolly Salsa fusion. I actually stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something new. After getting the top award from  world renowned choreographers of the industry I felt on  top of the world. The appreciation I got for my work at an international level was  really an amazing experience for me.”


The APDC  event organised by Y & V Events saw participation of over 100 dance  enthusiasts  from India and the UAE .  The participants attended workshops, master classes, the championship, and the showcase night and got amazing exposure. Aashna took part in the Asia Open Champonship's  20-35 years(age) category. The competition witnessed dancers showing their prowess in different dance styles.  

“The Asia Pacific Dance Congress   will be taken across Asia for the upcoming seasons. There  will be two(2) India editions also,” said Varun DS Rana, who has also been a coach and mentor to Aashna.

Aashna added that  Varun DS Rana has always been a pillar of strength throughout her training and has always guided and supported her through thick and thin. “Under his guidance, I want to learn more and improve my skills further.I aim to  become a renowned choreographer in the coming years,” she said.

In reply to a question, Aashna said: “I would like to thank Mr Chinmay from Mumbai who helped me with the choreography. I feel blessed and grateful to have such good people in my life,” Aashna said further.

The judges of the event were Salman Yusuf Khan, Tushar Kalia, Fernando Aguilera , Jai Kumar Nair, and Varun D S Rana.
