The Tibetan leader said, “ So here, my friend, if you truly love me than keep in your mind my three commitments. And whatever we say, where ever you live, try to create compassionate atmosphere, compassionate society ,then religious harmony .Then tell more people Tibetan knowledge, which comes from Nalanda, which is is quite useful. So whether believer or non believer, it is worthwhile that this Tibetan Knowledge is kept as a part of an academic subject. So if you practice it, pay more attention –that is the best Gift for my birth day.”

He said that Compassion is concern for others—sincere concern for others’ well-being founded on awareness of our own experience. Since it makes us happy when others show us affection and offer us help, if we show others affection and readiness to help they too will feel joy.

Thousands of Tibetans including monks, nuns, school students and foreigner supporters gather at the main Buddhist temple, Tsuglagkhang here to celebrate the 84 th Birth Day of Dalai Lama. Kishan Kapoor, BJP MP attended the ceremony as chief guest. President Lobsang Sangay and the chief guest including other guests. Tibetan artists from various schools and institutions perform cultural activities here.

Dolma Tsering, a Tibetan MP in-exile said , " its 84th birthday of his holiness the Dalai Lama and it's celebration of his holiness' dedication towards Tibet, towards humanity and we are hoping that his message of love and compassion spread throughout the world."

Dalai Lama fled Tibet after a failed uprising against the Chinese rule in 1959. Since then, he has spent his time in exile pushing for autonomy for Tibet. India is home to around 1,00,000 Tibetan, with their head quarters at Dharamshala in North India.

Releasing a statement on the occasion, the Tibetan parliament thanked the Indian government and its people for extending assistance to the Tibetan people.

" For the past 60 years the government and people of India with whom Tibet had deep cultural ties since ancient times have been most generous in extending every possible assistance and facilities to the Tibetan people during this difficult time," it said.

Dalai Lama was Born on July 6, 1935, at Taktser hamlet in north-eastern Tibet, the Dalai Lama was recognised at the age of two as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama.

The Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his non-violent campaign for democracy and freedom in his homeland. Tibetan office in Dharsamshala say that The Acting head of Republic of Kalmykia Hon. Batu Khasikov wrote to His Holiness the Dalai Lama to congratulate on his 84th birthday. The statement was formally presented by Honorary Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche, Office of Tibet Moscow at the official birthday ceremony held today at Tsuglagkhang, Dharamshala. “On behalf of all the people of the Republic of Kalmykia allow me to extend our greetings on the happy occasion of Your Holiness’s birthday! I wish Your Holiness to live a long and active life, surrounded by grateful disciples and enjoying the prosperity of Buddhist faith and culture.” the statement read.
