'Daan Utsav-2025' concluded on a high note with with residents donating over 120,000 clothes, 6000 Toys, 5000 pairs of shoes, 3000 beddings, 2000 utensils, 4000 appliances, grocery, e-waste etc during the utsav.

Ludhiana, November 1, 2025: 'Daan Utsav-2025' concluded on a high note with with residents donating over 120,000 clothes, 6000 Toys, 5000 pairs of shoes, 3000 beddings, 2000 utensils, 4000 appliances, grocery, e-waste etc during the utsav.

The Daan Utsav was organised by Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana in association with CityNeeds and Act Humane. The distribution ceremony under the 'Daan Utsav' was held at Indoor Stadium on Pakhowal road on Saturday. 

Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur was honoured as the Chief Guest on the occasion and she felicitated the associated NGOs/participants for their efforts to serve the society at large. 

MC Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, Filmmaker GurAmanat Singh, Actor Jarnail Singh, Actor Kuljinder Singh Sidhu, Director Dayakaran among others were also honoured as special guests during the distribution ceremony. 

'Daan Utsav-2025' commenced on October 2 wherein residents donated usable clothes, shoes, beddings, utensils, grocery, toys, appliances and e-waste at 60+ collection centres. Students of various educational institutions also donated material. 

This year in Daan Utsav 120,000+ clothes, 6000 Toys, 5000 pairs of shoes, 3000 beddings, 2000 utensils, 4000 appliances, grocery, e-waste etc have been donated by residents.

Marshal Aid foundation,  Ek Noor Sewa Kendra – Neki Ki Rasoi among other NGOs participated in the Utsav. A blood donation camp was also organised by Rehras Sewa Society during the distribution ceremony. 

MC Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon; Founder Director, CityNeeds Maneet Dewan and Harleen Kaur from Act Humane stated that working under the guidance of Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, MC Ludhiana has been promoting the concept of RRR i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. This initiative also aligns with the Mission LiFE initiated by Government of India which encourages residents to manage their waste.  

The donated material will reach the needy through different NGOs. The e-waste collected during the campaign will be given to recycling companies and revenue generated will be donated to NGOs by these companies.

Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur appreciated the initiative towards sustainability. She appealed to the residents to come forward and help the needy persons in the society. She expressed that these initiatives reflect the true spirit of community participation, compassion, and sustainability. She deeply appreciated the efforts of CityNeeds, Act Humane and other partner NGOs, educational institutes, volunteer etc.
