Cyber Security Awareness Program Held at Panjab University

Chandigarh, July 18, 2025: Panjab University today organised a Cyber Security Awareness Program to educate the university staff and administrative officers on essential practices for staying secure in the digital age.

Cyber security expert Mr. Tarun Malhotra, a renowned compliance auditor and consultant, delivered an insightful session titled “Cyber Security: Staying Safeguard in the Digital World.” He addressed critical topics including cybercrime, phishing, data breaches, and the importance of maintaining digital hygiene. He called upon the staff members to always be aware and not to click on any unknown link or message/email from any unknown person. “Cyber security is not just a technical issue—it’s a habit everyone needs to build. We must raise awareness and empower people to become the human firewall,” Mr. Malhotra emphasised during his talk.

Registrar Prof. Y.P. Verma, Finance & Development Officer Dr. Vikram Nayyar, Controller of Examination Prof. Jagat Bhushan, Deputy Registrars, Assistant Registrars, Superintendents and other PU staff members attended the awareness programme.

The session was organised under the PU-Cyber Wellness Clinic (PU-CWC) initiative by Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship’s Honorary Director Prof. Suveera Gill and Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship’s Coordinator Prof. Vishal Sharma.

The session witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from Panjab University’s administrative officers and staff. This exclusive awareness initiative is part of PU’s ongoing efforts to foster a cyber-aware and secure institutional environment.
