Cyber security awareness program at Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University
The Centre for Police Administration, in association with the Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE) and the Cyber Wellness Centre, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, today organised a Cyber Security Awareness Program in the Seminar Hall, Centre for Police Administration, PU.

Chandigarh, October 16, 2025: The Centre for Police Administration, in association with the Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE) and the Cyber Wellness Centre, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, today organised a Cyber Security Awareness Program in the Seminar Hall, Centre for Police Administration, PU.
As many as 80 students, 10 faculty members from the Centre for Police Administration, GGDSD College, and NCC, Panjab University, Chandigarh participated in the awareness program. The program was aimed to educate students about contemporary cyber challenges, promote responsible digital conduct, and enhance awareness of preventive mechanisms to ensure online security. The program was chaired by Prof. Vishal Sharma, Coordinator, Cyber Wellness Centre, Prof. Suveera Gill, Honorary Director, CSDE, and Dr. Kuldeep Singh Chairman Police Administration.
The Resource Person, Tarun Malhotra, Cyber Security & Compliance Auditor and Founder & CEO of Cyber Splunk, delivered an insightful talk on the latest trends in cyber threats, data protection, and digital hygiene. He elaborated on various subtopics such as types of hackers, digital scams, and AI-based cybercrime, and discussed tactics used by cybercriminals, including fear factor, time pressure, and exploitation of greed, which often lead individuals to online victimization.
Malhotra also highlighted that gaming apps and social media platforms have become vulnerable entry points for hackers and scammers. He emphasized that the best defense against cyber threats is awareness, vigilance, and responsible online behavior. He urged participants to follow the mantra — “Stop–Think–Connect” — as a simple yet effective measure to ensure personal and organizational cyber safety.
