CUPB organised two-week FDP on ‘Pedagogy and Assessment in Higher Education: NEP2020’

Bathinda, January 19, 2022: The School of Education of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) successfully organized two-week online Faculty Development Programme on "Pedagogy and Assessment in Higher Education: NEP2020" under the PMMMNMTT Self-Sustainability Plan from January 5th to 18th, 2022. The valedictory session of this FDP was conducted on Tuesday under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari. The keynote speaker on this occasion was Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, former Vice Chancellor, SNDT Women University, Mumbai.
In her keynote address, Prof. Shashikala Wanjari stated that the process of learning completes with the active construction of meaning by learners, and a teacher should adopt a learner-centric teaching pedagogy to generate self-directed learning ability among learners. She stressed on the need to provide holistic and multidisciplinary education to develop good human beings capable of rational thought and underlined that NEP2020 transformative reforms will pave the way for the creation of an equitable and vibrant knowledge society. She praised the programme organizers for appropriate conceptualization of this programme and motivated participants to utilize the new knowledge gained in this workshop in redesigning curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment tools in line with NEP2020.
During his presidential address, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice Chancellor, mentioned that this FDP enables participants to understand the role of NEP2020 transformative reforms linked to providing holistic curriculum development, experiential learning, multidisciplinary education, skill development, etc. for the overall development of learners. He inspired the faculty of CUPB Dept. of Education to organize more practice-oriented workshops and FPD to empower the teaching community to practise all NEP2020 reforms at their HEIs.
The valedictory session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Shankar Lal Bika, Programme Convener, Head and Dean, School of Education. While presenting the programme report, Dr. Bika shared that this two-week long FDP featured 50 lecture sessions along with activities and evaluation by eminent academicians. He stated that approximately 60 participants, including young faculty and research scholars from various Indian states, had successfully completed this program. Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incahrge Academics, congratulated the participants those successfully completed the FDP programme.
Dr. Jublee Padmanabhan informed that during this two-week faculty development programme distinguished speakers from eminent intuitions/ universities shared their views viz., Prof. Ajmer S. Malik (Vice Chancellor, Chaudhary Devi Lal University); Prof. R.P. Wadhera (former Pro. Vice Chancellor, Mizoram University); Prof. Sarika Sharma (Dean, Central University of Haryana); Prof. S.P. Malhotra (former DAA, Kurukshetra University); Prof. Saroj Pandey (IGNOU); Prof. S.K. Bawa Director (Universal Group of Institutions); Dr. Bawa Singh (CUPB); Dr. S.L. Bika (CUPB); Dr. K. Thyvagu (Central University of Kerala); Prof. Sushama Sharma (former Dean Edu. Kurukshetra University), Dr. Himangshu Das (Director NIEPVD); Prof. P.K. Sahoo (former Vice Chancellor, University of Allahabad); Prof. S.K. Yadav (former Head NCERT); Prof. Nityananda Pradhan (RIE-NCERT); Dr. Jayanthi Narayan (former Dy. Director, NIEPID); Prof. S.C.
